Enhancing surveillance systems to detect, monitor, and respond to emerging global health threats through a One Health approach, with special focus on invasive mosquito species management.

Project Highlights

Our comprehensive approach addresses urgent needs for robust and interconnected surveillance systems across multiple sectors.

Conduct a thorough assessment of existing surveillance activities and IT infrastructures across various sectors.

Improve data exchange by enhancing IT infrastructure to support integrated and collaborative surveillance systems.

Develop a synergistic approach to testing capacities for strains originating from different sectors, fostering a One Health perspective

Establish Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and protocols to facilitate seamless data sharing between sectors.

Create targeted surveillance protocols to monitor and manage the expansion of invasive mosquito populations in Europe.

Enhance the skills of public health professionals by introducing a targeted training framework, including the Hellenic Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) in collaboration with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET).
